Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Lines behave differently depending on why they formed, so the right treatment depends on the line, not the fashion.

Facial lines fall broadly into two groups. Dynamic lines appear when you move: frowning, smiling, raising your brows. Static lines are visible at rest, and they develop as skin loses collagen, elastin and hydration over time. Most faces have a mixture, and the mixture is what determines which treatment actually helps.
This matters because treating a static line as though it were dynamic, or the reverse, is the usual reason people feel their treatment did nothing. We assess which is which before recommending anything.
What causes fine lines and wrinkles?
Repeated muscle movement creates dynamic lines, which is why they appear first in the most expressive areas: between the brows, across the forehead and at the outer corners of the eyes. Everyone develops them, and they are not a sign of anything having gone wrong.
Static lines come from the slow loss of collagen and elastin, reduced hydration and volume, sun exposure, smoking and genetics. Sun damage is the single largest modifiable factor, which is why daily SPF does more for long-term skin quality than most treatments.
Which treatments suit which lines?
Dynamic lines, the ones that deepen when you move, respond to treatments that reduce the muscle activity creating them. Static lines respond better to approaches that improve the skin itself or restore lost support: skin boosters and polynucleotides for hydration and quality, dermal fillers where volume loss has caused a fold or hollow, and skin rejuvenation for texture and tone.
In practice many people benefit from a combination, staged over time rather than done at once. What we will not do is recommend a single treatment for every line on the face.
What can you realistically expect?
Softening rather than erasure. Deep static lines that have been present for years rarely disappear completely, and a face with no movement at all reads as unnatural. The aim is that you look rested and like yourself, not that you look treated.
Results vary with your skin, your age, the depth of the lines and how consistent you are with sun protection afterwards.
How is a plan decided?
At a free consultation we look at your face at rest and in movement, identify which lines are dynamic and which are static, and talk through what each option can and cannot do. Any treatment involving a prescription medicine is assessed individually by a prescriber and is never sold from a page or offered on request.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between fine lines and wrinkles?
Fine lines are shallow surface creases, often the earliest sign of skin dehydration and collagen loss. Wrinkles are deeper and more established. The practical distinction we use is whether a line is dynamic, visible only on movement, or static, visible at rest, because that changes the treatment.
At what age do wrinkles start?
Dynamic lines often appear from the late twenties in expressive areas, and static lines usually follow from the mid thirties onward. Genetics, sun exposure and smoking shift this considerably in both directions, so age alone is a poor guide to what you need.
Can wrinkles be removed completely?
Deep, long-standing static lines can usually be softened rather than erased, and complete removal is not a realistic or desirable goal. We would rather set that expectation at consultation than have you disappointed afterwards.
What can I do at home?
Daily broad-spectrum SPF is the most effective single measure, because sun exposure drives most preventable ageing. Not smoking, sleeping well, and a simple routine with a retinoid and moisturiser suited to your skin also help. None of this reverses established lines.
