Why Bristol patients travel to us
What to watch for elsewhere
- The clinic that sells the procedure is not the one that performs it
- Technicians carry out most of the surgery with limited medical oversight
- A graft count quoted before anyone has examined your scalp
- Aftercare that ends when you leave, or when you fly home
- Per-graft pricing that climbs on the day

- Your scalp and donor area assessed before any graft number is given

Which technique is right for you?
Sapphire FUE
Follicles are taken one at a time and placed through channels opened with sapphire blades. The finer channels allow dense, precise placement and there is no linear scar. The recipient area is shaved, so it suits shorter styles.
From £3,500
DHI (no-shave)
Each graft is implanted directly through existing hair without shaving the recipient area, so thinning can be treated discreetly. It is more meticulous and takes longer. This is our standard approach for women, beard and moustache work.
From £4,200
Planning your trip from Bristol
A transplant day runs long, usually six to eight hours depending on the graft count, so plan the day around the procedure rather than fitting it in around other things. You are awake throughout under local anaesthetic, there are breaks, and you can eat, read or watch something between stages.
From Bristol it works well to take an early train, arrive for the morning, and travel back in the evening. Book a flexible return if you can, because finishing times vary with the size of the session. We can suggest hotels within a short walk of Harley Street when you book.
Bring a button-up shirt rather than something you pull over your head, and a loose hat or hood for the journey home. Avoid alcohol for a day or two beforehand, tell us about any blood-thinning medication well in advance, and eat normally on the morning. If you would rather have someone with you, they are welcome to wait in the clinic.
You do not drive yourself home after surgery. Public transport is fine, and if you are coming by car from South West England it is worth knowing that the congestion charge zone covers Harley Street, so most patients take the train and finish the journey by taxi or tube.

Questions from Bristol patients
How many trips to London will I need to make from Bristol?
Usually one. Your assessment can be done on photographs and a video call, surgery is a single day, and follow-ups at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months are handled remotely by video or photo review. Some patients prefer an in-person consultation first, which we are glad to arrange.
Do I need to stay overnight in London?
Most Bristol patients travel down on the morning of surgery and are home the same evening. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you are awake and comfortable throughout. If you would rather not travel afterwards, we are happy to suggest hotels a short walk from the clinic.
How do I get to the clinic from Bristol Temple Meads?
Trains from Bristol Temple Meads reach London Paddington in about 1 hour 40 minutes. From there the clinic at 19 Harley Street is about 10 minutes by taxi, or the Bakerloo line to Regent’s Park. Driving takes about 2 hours 30 minutes, though the congestion charge zone makes the train easier.
Is it worth travelling from Bristol rather than going locally?
A hair transplant is permanent and uses a donor area you cannot replace, so who plans and performs it matters more than the distance. Our surgeons are Turkish and GMC-registered: the technique and volume of experience Turkey is known for, delivered under UK regulation with local aftercare.
What does a hair transplant cost for Bristol patients?
The same as for anyone else: £3,500 for a smaller Sapphire FUE session, £4,200 with no-shave DHI, and £4,450 or £5,150 for larger sessions. There is no travel surcharge and no per-graft pricing. You can spread the cost with Klarna at 0% APR up to £2,000, subject to status.
Should I consider Turkey instead?
You do not have to choose between Turkish expertise and UK safety. Our surgeons trained and practise in the Turkish technique but operate here under GMC registration at a CQC-registered clinic, so your aftercare is a train ride away rather than a flight, and follow-up is straightforward.
Can my first assessment be done without travelling?
Yes. Send photographs of your hairline, crown and donor area through the free photo assessment and a clinician will review them personally, then follow up with a video consultation. You only travel once you know you are a candidate and what the plan involves.
How long before I can go back to work?
Most people return to desk-based work in 3 to 5 days. Small scabs clear within 10 to 14 days and redness settles over a week or two. Transplanted hairs shed early on, new growth starts around three to four months, and the full result shows by 9 to 12 months.
